During his years of service, JD developed a leadership philosophy centered on community-focused policing—law enforcement that responds not only to calls for service but also to the concerns and needs affecting neighborhoods throughout Chesterfield County.
For JD, the Sheriff should never become disconnected from the people who placed their trust in that office.

Having worked his way through the ranks and previously served as Sheriff, JD understands both the day-to-day responsibilities of law enforcement officers and the tremendous responsibility that comes with leading an entire agency.

JD is seeking the opportunity to serve as Sheriff again because he believes Chesterfield County needs experienced leadership that places service and protection at the center of the Sheriff’s Office.
He has seen what can happen when law enforcement and communities work together. He believes those relationships can be strengthened again.
